New York Mets Lose LHP Sean Gilmartin off Waivers to St. Louis Cardinals

After activating starter Seth Lugo off the disabled list for today’s start, New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson sent southpaw Sean Gilmartin down to the minors as the corresponding move, but then lost the former Brave and Twin to the St. Louis Cardinals off waivers.

Over 21 innings from ’16-’17, Gilmartin allowed 19 earned runs, compiling a 1.76 WHIP to pair with that 8.14 ERA.

But what many Mets fans will likely remember him for was his consistently solid 2015 season directly out of the Rule-5 Draft, where Gilmartin tossed 57.
