New York Mets’ Jed Lowrie is facing live pitching

New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen signed Jed Lowrie in January in an attempt to bolster the team’s infield depth. Lowrie injured his knee early in Spring Training, and the team brought him along slowly in an attempt to have him ready for opening day.

The plan that was put into place to have Lowrie back by opening day worked so well that as of Aug. 14 he has appeared in the exact same number of Mets games as this writer. Namely, zero. The team has played coy with the nature of Lowrie’s injury so much that Mickey Callaway had to confirm to WFAN’s Evan Roberts that Lowrie “exists.
