The New York Mets will soon be getting a much-needed boost. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, manager Mickey Callaway believes infielder Jed Lowrie could join the club as soon as Friday.
The 35-year-old was one of the Mets’ biggest offseason additions. After inking a two-year, $20 million deal in January, the super utility man missed all of spring training rehabbing a sprained capsule in his left knee.
Lowrie is scheduled to play a final rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. If all goes well, the team will activate him from the injured list for their Friday game against the Miami Marlins.
