According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the New York Mets have re-called catcher Jose Lobaton from the minors.
Catcher Devin Mesoraco injured his back Monday vs the Los Angeles Dodgers and is out indefinitely.
Mesoraco is a free agent this offseason, so he could have very well played his last game with the team as the season comes to a close.
Lobaton is hitting just .152 in 46 at bats this season with the Mets, but with rosters expanding, having him as their third catcher (joining Tomas Nido and Kevin Plawecki) certainly makes sense.
