Earlier this week, WFAN’s Mike Francesa revealed during his show that had he been hired by the New York Yankees as the team’s next manager, recently retired World Series champion Carlos Beltran would have hired former New York Mets manager Terry Collins as his bench coach.
Beltran was interviewed by the Yankees about their managerial opening but ultimately lost out to Aaron Boone.
During his Yankees interview, he was asked which manager he played for had left the most lasting impression. His answer? Terry Collins, who recently stepped away as manager for the Mets and for whom he played under in 2011.
