The New York Mets have named Jim Riggleman their new bench coach. Riggleman is 66 years old and spent last season as the interim manager for the Cincinnati Reds.
Gary Disarcina will become the third base coach, Glenn Sherlock will move over to become the first base coach, and Ruben Amaro Jr. will move into a front office role.
The Mets remain in search of a new hitting coach.
Last season it was clear that Mickey Callaway was still learning the ropes of National League baseball, and hiring a bench coach with NL experience was a must for this offseason.
