Earlier this month, the New York Mets received a devastating blow as second baseman Robinson Canó hit the injured list. After rounding first base in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Canó slowed up and couldn’t even return to the bag. An MRI afterwards showed that Canó had torn his left hamstring on the play.
He avoided surgery, yet his timetable is still unclear. It’s possible that Canó could miss the rest of the season. However, he did take batting practice on Tuesday at Citi Field for the first time since sustaining the injury, which is always a good sign.
