41; the New York Mets franchise record for single-season home runs. The record set by catcher Todd Hundley in 1996 and then tied 10 years later by center fielder Carlos Beltran.
Now, in 2019, both of those players could see their home run record not only tied but surpassed. Through 114 games this year, Mets rookie first baseman Pete Alonso has 37 home runs. That’s right, thirty-seven bombs. This comes with one in each of the previous three games.
With 47 games left, it’s certainly possible for Alonso to snatch the record.
