New street to be named after Mets great Tom Seaver

It’s an Amazin’ street name fitting for “Tom Terrific.”

The City Council on Wednesday approved renaming a seven-block stretch outside Citi Field in Queens “Seaver Way,” in honor of Mets legend Tom Seaver.

The move – which affects 126th Street, from Northern Boulevard to Roosevelt Avenue – officially gives the Mets a green light to rename the ballpark’s address “41 Seaver Way.”

Seaver, a first ballot hall of famer, wore number 41 on his jersey.

New street signs bearing the Hall of Fame pitcher’s name are expected to unveiled during a ceremony Thursday.

It will feature three other members of the 1969 World Series champion club – Jerry Koosman, Cleon Jones and Ron Swoboda – and Seaver’s children and grandchildren.
