New Hall of Famer Mike Piazza moved as Mets retire his number

NEW YORK -- Mike Piazza said he was hoping not to cry this time. Six days after going in the Hall of Fame, Piazza was at Citi Field on Saturday to see his number retired by the New York Mets. Piazza, just the second player to go in the Hall of Fame as a Met, is also just the second Mets player to have his number retired, joining Tom Seaver. Piazza's 31 joins Seaver's 41, and also 14 and 37 for managers Gil Hodges and Casey Stengel, respectively, and Jackie Robinson's 42 on the Citi Field facade.
