PHOENIX -- Mets third baseman Daniel Murphy lasted two innings at his new position before pulling up with an injury.
Murphy, who shifted from second base to third for Thursday's game against the D-backs, left in the third inning due to left quad tightness. There was no initial update on the severity of his injury.
Murphy, 30, was batting .283 with four home runs in 55 games. Since April 26, he has been the Mets' hottest hitter, with a .343 average and .874 OPS. He completed two plate appearances in Friday's game but did not return to the field for the bottom of the third.
