Since being acquired on Aug. 1, OF Jay Bruce is hitting .152 (7-for-46) with two home runs and five RBI in 16 games, during which the Mets are 6-10.
"There were three nights he just barreled up eight balls and hit them right at people," Mets manager Terry Collins recently said about Bruce. "I know one thing, you can go over and ask their pitching coach if they are worried about Bruce, the answer would be 'yes.' That's what he does in the lineup."
Collins said he recently talked to Bruce about taking a day off, since the only day he's been off since the All-Star break is the day he was traded.
