NEW YORK -- The New York Mets will have to wait another day for their home opener, but there will be some activity at Citi Field on Thursday. The players will have an early afternoon workout. They also will receive their National League championship rings in a private ceremony.
Baby permitting, Jacob deGrom will oppose Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff in Friday’s 1:10 p.m. ET game.
The pregame ceremony, which includes the raising of an NL championship banner with assistance from Rusty Staub, John Franco and Edgardo Alfonzo, begins at 12:30 p.
