SAN DIEGO -- The New York Mets will awaken on the West Coast on Thursday.
The club begins an 11-game road trip with a four-game series against the San Diego Padres. Then it’s on to Los Angeles and Denver.
Jacob deGrom (3-0, 1.02 ERA) opposes right-hander Colin Rea (2-1, 4.61) in the 10:10 p.m. ET series opener at Petco Park.
DeGrom is bidding to match the franchise record for consecutive starts to begin a season allowing one run or fewer in each outing. Matt Harvey (2013), Rick Reed (2000), Frank Viola (1991) and Tom Seaver (1973) did so in their first four starts of a season.
