NEW YORK -- There still is one day to go before the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants play their winner-take-all NL wild-card game at 8:09 p.m. ET Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Mets work out at Citi Field at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Giants at 4 p.m. ET.
Steven Matz is due to undergo surgery Tuesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan to remove bone spurs in his pitching elbow. Matz also will receive an injection of platelet-rich plasma in his balky left shoulder while undergoing the elbow procedure.
