NEW YORK -- The New York Mets plan to release some unfortunate news Friday.
Captain David Wright is headed to the disabled list because of a herniated disk in his neck. Wright will not undergo surgery now, but he will miss an extended period of time.
Surgery is not being ruled out at a later date.
Terry Collins earlier in the week compared the injury to a herniated disk in the neck that Bobby Parnell endured while with the Mets in 2013.
