MLB Rumor Central: Could the Mets sign Yulieski Gourriel?

Could the prolonged absence facing David Wright prompt the New York Mets to aggressively pursue Cuban infielder Yulieski Gourriel?

Wright underwent surgery Thursday to address a herniated disk in his neck and it is unclear if and when he will return this season.

The Mets are prepared to go with Wilmer Flores at third base for the time being and could consider moving Neil Walker to third and promote Dilson Herrera from Triple-A Las Vegas to play second, reports ESPN's Adam Rubin.

As for external options, Mike Puma of the New York Post suggests the 32-year-old Gourriel, who was declared a free agent by Major League Baseball on Monday.
