Jacob Rhame is still paying for his controversial message pitch.
The Mets’ hurler was suspended two games and handed an undisclosed fine by MLB on Thursday, two days after throwing behind Phillies’ first baseman Rhy Hoskins and consequently reigniting the rivalry between the NL East contenders.
Rhame launched a 97-mph fastball near Hoskins’ head, leading to harsh words exchanged and a brief bench-clearing during the ninth inning of the Mets’ 9-0 rout of the Phillies on Tuesday.
