MLB places Rockies SS Jose Reyes on paid leave

Major League Baseball is placing former Mets and current Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes, who is headed to court in April on domestic violence charges in Hawaii, on paid leave until the completion of his trial.

“Upon resolution of Reyes’ criminal proceedings and the completion of the Commissioner’s Office’s investigation into the incident, Commissioner Manfred will make a decision whether to impose discipline on Reyes. The Commissioner’s Office will have no further comment on this matter until a final disposition is announced,” MLB announced Tuesday afternoon.

Reyes pleaded not guilty after he was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with “abuse of a family and/or household member,” according to a Maui PD press release, which added that Reyes and wife Katherine Ramirez “were in an argument that turned physical and resulted in injuries.
