While the Mets had to wait to make their first selection of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, the organization believes it has found a gem in the second round. With their first pick, No. 53 overall, the Mets chose Desmond Lindsay, a center fielder from Out-of-Door Academy in Florida.
Paul DePodesta, the Mets vice president of player development and scouting, believes Lindsay could have the most upside of any second round pick during the Sandy Alderson regime -- a group highlighted by shortstop Matt Reynolds, now at Triple-A. In Lindsay, the Mets believe they have found a player fast enough to play center field and with a booming offensive profile.
