AKRON 8, BINGHAMTON 7: The B-Mets scored seven runs in the seventh inning but failed to protect that late 7-6 lead. L.J. Mazzilli, representing the tying run in the ninth, was thrown out at third base attempting to advance on a foul pop out for the final out. In the B-Mets' big inning, Mazzilli ripped a three-run double and Derrik Gibson launched a game-tying triple. Gibson then scampered home with the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. A half-inning later, B-Mets reliever Mike Hepple surrendered a leadoff double to Ivan Castillo.
