NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Mets jersey Mike Piazza wore when he hit the legendary game-winning home run in the team’s first home game since the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks is finally home.
The jersey, whose sale caused an uproar, made its only appearance in the open at the 9/11 Memorial Museum Monday, CBS2’s Steve Overmyer.
The jersey was originally up for auction until April 30, but the seller feared the new owner wouldn’t display it.
Overymyer reported the owner feared the iconic Piazza jersey could’ve ended up on foreign soil.
