Mike Piazza: I saw greatness in Michael Conforto

Add Mike Piazza to the growing list of Michael Conforto admirers.

“I think [his swing] is a lot nicer-looking than mine was,” the soon-to-be Hall of Fame catcher said Thursday night at Cipriani 42nd Street, where he received the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Special Achievement Award in Sports, as did former St. John’s coach Lou Carnesecca.

Piazza was at the 2014 draft, representing the Mets, when they took Conforto 10th overall out of Oregon State. Piazza often jokes with Conforto that he made him a Met.
