Mickey Callaway wants catchers to call better pitches

Mets manager Mickey Callaway would like to see Mets catchers demonstrate better pitch selection during spring training.

Callaway took issue with RHP Marcos Molina's 2-0 curveball called by Kevin Plawecki during Saturday's game against the Cardinals, a pitch that turned into a home run, reports Tim Britton of The Athletic. Callaway also noted that the Mets walked a batter on an off-speed pitch with a full count.

"We've really got to hone in on our pitch selection," Callaway said, according to The Athletic. "This is their first outing of spring. If we're going to get hit around, let's do it with our fastball.
