Mickey Callaway: Jacob deGrom should win Cy Young again

In a muddled National League Cy Young award race, Jacob deGrom could be considered the front runner.

“There’s some strong points we can all make that deGrom is leading this race,” manager Mickey Callaway said before the Mets’ 3-0 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday.

DeGrom’s stock rose even further with a three-hit shutout over seven innings against one of the NL’s premier lineups. The right-hander saw his ERA drop from 2.70 to 2.61.

A month ago, Hyun-Jin Ryu wore the front-runner label for the award, but a rough stretch opened the door for competition that also includes Nationals ace Max Scherzer and Braves rookie Mike Soroka.
