“Mickey Callaway looks more comfortable in the dugout.” Just in running the game, the official elaborated, and presenting confidence and competence.
“There’s no doubt about it,” the Mets’ manager, in his second year on the job, agreed on Wednesday afternoon. “I feel much more comfortable.”
The Mets proceeded to suffer a 6-0 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday night at Citi Field, with Rhys Hoskins setting a Statcast-era record for slowest home-run trot after he avenged Jacob Rhame’s baffling headhunting from the prior night with a two-run, ninth-inning blast.
