Michael Cuddyer’s Mets legacy endures in pretty cool way

Michael Cuddyer had a disappointing 2015 season with the Mets and then retired, but one of his creations still serves as a unifier in the clubhouse.

After the Mets beat the Royals 2-0 on Tuesday, David Wright presented Neil Walker with the team’s “Victory Belt” — given to the player of the game following a win. Walker, who hit a two-run homer, was a somewhat reluctant recipient, believing Noah Syndergaard’s six shutout innings had topped his big hit.

Cuddyer brought the concept of the Victory Belt to the Mets clubhouse last year, after implementing it during his Rockies tenure.
