Michael Cuddyer’s infuriating final hope to get better

For many, the most despicable and hated four-letter word is “time.”

But that is the only remedy the Mets and Michael Cuddyer had not tried on his aching left knee, so that is the course of action now being employed. Cuddyer, in a move that contributed to the call-up of prospect Michael Conforto, was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22.

“Extremely disappointing. Never got better. We tried everything that you could possibly try, with the exception of time. And that’s what we’re going to give it now,” said Cuddyer, 36, who had played in just 10 of the Mets’ 18 games in July.
