Michael Conforto’s bat is forcing Collins into lineup switch

CLEVELAND — Michael Conforto can plan on staying in the No. 3 hole.

The Mets outfielder delivered two doubles on Sunday, culminating a big weekend at the plate for the entire lineup with a 6-0 victory over the Indians at Progressive Field.

Conforto was shifted to third in the batting order on Friday, starting a stretch in which the Mets have averaged 5.7 runs after stumbling through the last homestand.

So Conforto will remain the No. 3 hitter against righty pitchers, according to manager Terry Collins.

“I think that is where he’s going to end up hitting one of these days full time,” Collins said.
