Remember how Jacob deGrom tied an MLB record? He went 25 straight starts allowing three runs or less? That’s an amazing stat but Zack Wheeler is creeping his way towards Jake with a very similar streak.
The New York Mets secondary ace has now gone nine straight starts giving up three runs or fewer and is one third of the way to the streak that Jake currently has. For a time, it looked like Zacks streak could even be better than Jake’s.
How? Because up until Zack’s start against the Dodgers, his streak was for consecutive starts allowing two runs or fewer.
