Mets’ World Series history: Equal serving of joy and sorrow

The Mets have been playing baseball for 54 years. This is their fifth World Series. One of the good things about qualifying for a Fall Classic once every 10.8 years is that most memories stay fresh. If you happen to be, say, a Yankees fan (one Series appearance every 2.34 years since 1921!) it’s easy for things to get a little … jumbled.

The Mets keep it simple for you. They have played in 24 World Series games. They are 12-12 in those games. They have won a seven-game series and lost a seven-game series. They have won a five-game series and lost a five-game series.
