At some point, the Mets’ winning streak was going to end, and tonight in Texas, it did. The Rangers topped the Mets by a 5-3 score to salvage in a series that the Mets had already won before the game began.
Sean Manaea had a laborious first inning and wound up allowing a run without giving up a hit thanks to a combination of walks and one of the most inconsistent home plate umpire strike zones in recent memory. But he settled down after that and went five-and-two-thirds innings, ultimately allowing three runs.
A double by Starling Marte brought the Mets even in the top of the fourth after Manaea had given up that run in the first inning.
