Mets will judge Matt Harvey beyond his innings number

Matt Harvey’s “abbreviated” start on Sunday for the Mets will be fluid in nature.

According to general manager Sandy Alderson, the team will take into account factors other than innings and pitches in deciding how far Harvey should go against the Yankees.

The Mets are monitoring the right-hander amid concerns about his workload that recently were raised by Harvey’s agent, Scott Boras.

“I wouldn’t focus on innings, I wouldn’t on pitches,” Alderson said before Friday’s 5-1 win over the Yankees. “I think ultimately it will be not just the innings, but the quality of the innings and as far as pitches is concerned the number of pitches under stress versus less-stressful circumstances.
