The Mets will give Jacob deGrom extra rest prior to his next start, with Logan Verrett starting in deGrom’s place, Terry Collins said on Saturday.
Collins said that it hasn’t yet been determined if deGrom will be pushed back or if he’ll be skipped entirely this time through the rotation, and noted that deGrom’s location has not been what it needs to be lately.
DeGrom recently said that he didn’t want to be given extra rest, and said on Saturday that he’d rather be pushed back than skipped entirely.
