Jeurys Familia worked out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the ninth by inducing a double play from Kris Bryant and the Mets held on for a 2-1 win over the Cubs on Tuesday night.
In case you missed it…
- Familia got two quick strikes on the first batter in the ninth before losing control and throwing nine straight balls. Javy Baez's bunt attempt looked as if it would roll foul but Jose Reyes fielded and threw too late, loading the bases with nobody out. Matt Szczur bounced to James Loney, who got the out at the plate before Bryant grounded into a game-ending, 5-4-3 double play
- Rene Rivera's two-out, RBI single in the ninth scored Neil Walker with the go-ahead run, putting New York in position to steal a win.
