The Mets will honor Rusty Staub by wearing a patch featuring his autograph on the sleeve of both their home and away jerseys this season, the team announces. Staub passed away on Thursday at the age of 73.
Staub played 23 seasons in the major leagues -- nine with the Mets -- and is most remembered by fans for his role on the 1973 NL pennant-winning team, when he hit three home runs in the NLCS, and went 11-for-26 in the World Series.
