CINCINNATI - Noah Syndergaard went out and made the mound at the Great American Ball Park his own Friday night, delivering one of his most impressive starts anywhere as the the Mets blew away the Reds 12-5 and pulled within one win of clinching their first playoff spot since 2006.
Syndergaard was brilliant as the Mets (87-67) won their second straight game and ninth straight on the road. More importantly, with the Nationals losing to Philadelphia, the Mets can clinch the National League East and their first playoff spot since 2006 on Saturday.
