The Mets travel west of the Mississippi for a ten game road trip that begins in Walt Disney’s backyard against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Mets are coming off a stretch where they split series with the Marlins and Braves, swept the Yankees, and took two of three from the Twins. In that span, the Mets have climbed as high as the second Wild Card spot, but have now fallen out of playoff position, a half-game back of the Diamondbacks and a game behind the Padres.
However, these positions are going to be changing quite a bit over the next few weeks, so it isn’t worth getting too stressed out about the specific Mets positions right now, but we are approaching the time of the season where it would be nice for the Mets to put some distance between themselves and their competition.
