Mets trade Wilmer Font to Blue Jays for cash

The Mets made their first move of the trading season Wednesday, as the club announced it has traded Wilmer Font to the Blue Jays for cash considerations. Font was designated for assignment last week.

Font, who joins his fifth team in the last two seasons, had a 4.94 ERA in 31 innings with the Mets, most of them out of the bullpen. In his last two appearances, he gave up a combined four runs in 4.1 innings. The Mets’ bullpen has a cumulative 5.46 ERA on the season, good for second-worst in the National League.

The Mets acquired Font from the Rays in May in exchange for a prospect.
