The Mets have traded Steven Matz to the Blue Jays, according to several tweets from reporters. The Mets are receiving three prospects in return, all of whom are right-handed pitchers: Josh Winchowski, Yennsy Diaz, and Sean Reid-Foley.
Drafted by the Mets in 2009, Matz dealt with injuries early in his career and made his major league debut with the team in 2015. He was brilliant that year, but he dealt with injuries at the major league level, too. Over the years, his health became more reliable, but his performance on the mound went in the other direction.
