Mets Trade Pitch: Sending Zack Wheeler and more to the Rangers

Back in 2011 at the MLB trade deadline, the New York Mets dealt All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran to the San Francisco Giants in return for Zack Wheeler. At the time of the deal, he was one of the game’s best pitching prospects.

Now, almost 8 years later, after an “interesting” career with the Mets, full of highs and some very low lows, Wheeler is set to be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2019 season, meaning that he is now one of the team’s biggest trade chips.

The Mets went into the All-Star break with a record of 40-50.
