Mets trade Kevin Plawecki to Indians

The Mets have resolved their catching logjam, trading Kevin Plawecki to the Indians for RHP Walter Lockett and 2B Sam Haggerty. Plawecki was due to make slightly over $1 million in arbitration this season, but became somewhat superfluous with the addition of Wilson Ramos and the (presumed) return of Travis d’Arnaud.

Lockett was a fourth round draft pick by the Padres in 2012, and the Indians only acquired him in November. He’s made three major league starts and one relief appearance, totaling 15 innings with a 9.60 ERA and a 7.03 FIP. In the minors, he’s consistently posted unremarkable strikeout numbers and an ERA in the mid 4’s.
