As we eagerly await to see what transpires in the last few hours before the deadline, the first deal the Mets have swung today is not a major one. After designating lefty reliever Josh Walker off the 40-man roster a few days ago, the team today announced that they have sent him to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for 18-year-old left-handed pitcher Nicolas Carreno.
Walker has been a member of the organization since being drafted by them in 2017 and has occasionally flashed some promise in the minors, but has yet to put it together consistently at the big league level.
