The Mets have traded right-handed pitcher Jacob Barnes to the Blue Jays in exchange for fellow right-handed pitcher Troy Miller. Barnes was designated for assignment by the Mets just under a week ago, and Miller is a 24-year-old starter who was bumped up to Double-A from High-A by the Blue Jays in late May.
The Mets got Barnes in late October last year, claiming him off waivers from the Angels and retaining over the offseason despite the fact that they could have made further upgrades to their bullpen in free agency. And in spring training, there was some talk about things the Mets had seen in Barnes that could potentially turn him into a good major league reliever.
