Mets trade for Brewers’ defensive centerfielder

The Mets added to their pool of outfielders.

They acquired centerfielder Keon Broxton from the Brewers in exchange for right-hander Bobby Wahl, minor league reliever Adam Hill and minor league infielder Felix Valerio, the team announced Saturday.

The 28-year-old Broxton, known as a defensive outfielder, played in just 51 games for Milwaukee last season, hitting .179 with four home runs, 11 RBIs and five stolen bases. The career .221 hitter is out of minor-league options, meaning he would have to go through waivers if he did not make the Brewers’ roster out of spring training.
