The Mets have traded outfielder Darrell Ceciliani to the Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced.
Ceciliani had been designated for assignment last week in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Yoenis Cespedes.
The Mets had a week to either place Cecliani on waivers or trade him. If Ceciliani had been placed on waivers and cleared, the Mets would have had the option of outrighting him to the minors.
Ceciliani, 25, hit .206/.270/.279 in 68 at-bats last season for the Mets.
