Brett Baty’s first professional home run definitely made some noise.
The Mets’ first-round pick in the 2019 MLB draft stepped up to the plate for the Gulf Coast rookie league squad and went deep in the second inning for a grand slam during a 9-1 win over the Astros on Monday.
The 19-year-old third baseman has already turned heads in the big-league front office with his bat, with manager Mickey Callaway and GM Brodie Van Wagenen watching closely.
“The power is obviously awesome,” Callaway said in June. “He hit balls that I haven’t seen left-handers hit in our field.
