PORT ST. LUCIE — Tom Seaver’s name will soon be prominently associated with Citi Field.
The Mets announced plans on Thursday for 126th Street, which lies adjacent to the ballpark, to be renamed in honor of the Hall of Fame pitcher. Citi Field will be located at 41 Seaver Way.
As The Post’s Kevin Kernan previously reported, the Mets are finalizing plans for a statue to honor Seaver that would be unveiled in 2020. An announcement on the details is expected to come in late June, when the 50th anniversary celebration of the team’s improbable 1969 World Series championship is celebrated.
