The Mets are set to select the contract of outfielder Carlos Gomez, according to Mike Puma of the Post, who says Gomez was informed last night that he would be joining the Mets in Miami. That brings things full circle for the 33-year-old outfielder, who came up through the Mets’ system, made his major league debut with the team in 2007, and was the subject of the trade that never was—the one that would have sent Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores to the Brewers in 2015 in exchange for him.
