The Mets will leave Logan Verrett in the starting rotation for the time being, with newly reacquired Jon Niese working from the bullpen, manager Terry Collins said earlier this week.
Verrett has posted a 4.20 ERA (5.04 FIP) and 1.41 WHIP while striking out just 6.0 batters per nine in 79 1/3 innings this season.
He has allowed three runs in each of his last two starts.
Niese, who was demoted to the bullpen in Pittsburgh before being traded and posted a 4.91 ERA (5.35 FIP) with a 1.54 WHIP in 110 innings there, allowed one run in two innings Tuesday night in his first 2016 game as a Met.
